Methodology
HoliganBet methodology - fact checking and ratings
What the articles are based on
I distinguish product conditions, personal action results and calculations from confirmed values. A payout rule or app characteristic describes the service; one withdrawal belongs to my tested scenario and its conditions.
Personal testing covered email registration and SMS protection, deposits, play, withdrawals, mobile options and support. Android was tested on HONOR X9d, iOS on iPhone 14. These are test devices rather than promises of compatibility with every phone.
I deposited 10, 10 and 20 USD, totalling 40 USD, and received a withdrawal in USDT TRC20. The quick withdrawal arrived within 5 minutes, an upper boundary for that transaction rather than an exact universal time.
| Ground type | What it supports | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Product condition | Specific rate, limit, rule or scope | Does not prove every user completed that scenario |
| Author's personal test | Action and observed result under described conditions | Does not establish universal timing, compatibility or winnings |
| Calculation | Consequence of known figures and a formula | Does not replace an undisclosed contractual definition |
| Confirmed absence | Operator does not provide the specified condition or feature | Does not authorise guessing a hidden value |
Arithmetic cannot create a missing contractual clause. A self-exclusion form describes a submission route; fulfilment is assessed separately. An advertised speed promise likewise does not replace receipt: it describes the service, while the transaction result belongs to personal experience.
Which pages receive ratings
Scores on a 0–10 scale apply to naturally assessable subjects with suitable models: brand, casino and game categories, sports betting, bonuses, mobile access, payments, licence and safety, or support.
Registration is rated with sufficient evidence of complete account creation. A form alone does not cover the model. Login, contact, publisher, methodology, privacy, site terms, responsible gambling and complaint guides have no decorative score. The affiliate page is also unrated.
A rated page's result is rounded to one decimal place with weighted criteria. It must match the brief verdict, table and conclusion. An unrated utility page does not mean the product scored zero.
Another casino's external-directory score is not imported into our scale.
Choosing criterion scores
Weight defines importance; calibration connects score with fact. First select the measurement family, then the scale interval, then a specific value matching evidence strength.
| Interval | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | Critical failure, confirmed absence of a required feature or severe weakness |
| 3–4 | Clearly weak result |
| 5–6 | Functional or average result with noticeable limitations |
| 7–8 | Strong result without a major user failure |
| 9–10 | Exceptional result supported convincingly by facts |
Criterion scores generally use 0,5 increments. The lower half of an interval fits mixed or barely sufficient evidence; the middle a representative result. The upper half requires consistently strong grounds; the next interval requires meeting its conditions.
Breadth covers selection, providers, events or payment classes. Costs and friction concern fees, wagering and obstacles. Good results point in different directions: more useful choice or less confirmed burden.
Speed concerns task time; stability concerns errors and reliable completion. Navigation covers search and movement, and clarity covers complete material terms. Advertising promises do not replace these properties.
Availability connects features with platform and GEO; safety with licence, operator and protection; value with comparable offers; support quality with accuracy and resolution. One channel's existence does not determine all these results.
Comparisons use similar services and identical units for one transaction and geography. Catalogue counters are not summed where overlapping. Without direct measurement of a secondary criterion, a fixed internal reference may be used, but is not published as a measured HoliganBet property.
Exact facts come first, with explicitly established unknowns retained. Other permitted cases use one project internal reference, then the methodology's general reference. A selected value does not change between pages merely to obtain another result.

Unknown and absent conditions
Confirmed feature absence may lower its score; missing published rules reduce transparency. Unknown numerical conditions remain unscored, receiving neither a hidden zero nor an invented substitute.
Category coverage is the share of applicable weights that can be scored. 70% or more meets the normal threshold. 40% to below 70% may enter calculations considering evidence scope. Below 40%, the category contributes no score until information is available.
Inapplicable criteria are excluded; applicable unknowns remain in coverage. Missing information cannot be disguised by exclusion, and a critical fact needed for a truthful conclusion cannot be replaced with a comparative reference.
Model weights by page type
Each row's criteria total 100%, defining calculation structure rather than a ready HoliganBet score. Establish scope, grounds and calibration before weighting.
Models separate related properties. Payment fees do not replace speed. Mobile installation does not prove feature parity or stability. Bonus nominal amounts are separate from wagering, expiry and restrictions; one attractive component does not resolve another's rules.
Product section criteria
Each product section uses its criteria and separate property weights below. Registration's conditional model requires a full scenario. Identical criterion names do not transfer results from another action.
| Section | Criteria and weights |
|---|---|
| Slots | Catalogue depth 25%; provider variety 20%; categories and formats 15%; branded games 15%; search 10%; catalogue availability and clarity 10%; tournaments and special content 5% |
| Live Casino | Table game breadth 25%; live catalogue depth 20%; providers 15%; game shows and formats 15%; navigation 10%; availability and clarity 15% |
| Crash games | Game count 25%; game and provider variety 20%; rule clarity 20%; navigation 15%; availability 10%; risk information 10% |
| Sports betting | Sports and esports 15%; event count 15%; market depth 15%; live 15%; odds competitiveness 20%; interface 10%; GEO availability 10% |
| Bonuses | Nominal value 15%; wagering 25%; winnings and amount limits 15%; expiry 10%; eligibility and GEO 10%; promotion breadth 10%; terms clarity 15% |
| App and mobile | Platform availability 15%; installation source and safety 15%; stability 20%; speed 15%; feature parity 15%; navigation 10%; login and account protection 10% |
| Payments | Method breadth 15%; deposit availability and limits 10%; withdrawal availability and limits 15%; actual speed 20%; fees 10%; KYC and friction 10%; GEO 10%; terms clarity 10% |
| Licence and safety | Licence and verifiability 35%; operator identity 20%; permitted address clarity 15%; KYC/AML 15%; responsible gambling 10%; incident history 5% |
| Support | Channels 15%; hours 10%; actual response speed 25%; accuracy 20%; resolution usefulness 20%; escalation route 10% |
| Registration with a full scenario | Completion and friction 25%; requested data clarity 15%; KYC transparency 20%; account management 15%; recovery and protection 15%; mobile/desktop consistency 10% |
Overall brand and casino category
The overall brand score combines licence and safety (20%), casino and games (20%), sports (15%), payments (15%), bonuses (10%), mobile access (10%) and support (10%); casino uses slots (45%), live (30%), crash (15%) and navigation (10%).
One category needs one consistent calculation. Compare facts, scope and model version. Country differences may change inputs. A genuinely different basis must explain a separate result, rather than its position in an article.

Calculating the final score
Category scores sum score–original-weight products, proportionally normalising scored criteria. Unknown conditions remain in evidence coverage but do not receive zero as if confirmed poor properties.
Category score = Σ(criterion score × original weight) / Σ weights of scored criteria.
Illustrative scores 7 and 5 at weights 30% and 20% give (7 × 30 + 5 × 20) / 50 = 6,2. This arithmetic example is not a HoliganBet rating. Round to one decimal after calculation so intermediate rounding does not distort the result.
For the overall result, multiply nominal weight by category coverage; categories below 40% contribute no score. Then normalise effective weights, so the result reflects both importance and evidence basis.
Effective weight = nominal category weight × its coverage share.
Overall score = Σ(category score × effective weight) / Σ effective weights.
Aggregate coverage divides total effective weights by applicable nominal weights. Publishing an overall result requires at least 50%. Critical content gaps remain separate obstacles. Sufficient coverage does not permit substituting an unknown licence or material financial condition.
Translation retains testing geography; a different country result requires relevant conditions. Registration availability does not establish every sports product, bonus, support language or local legal permission.
When ratings are revised
Ratings change with material changes to rates, rules, functions, availability or test results. Rewording creates no new test. First publication dates remain; an update date follows substantive review. Personal experience remains tied to its action and result.
